Marlborough Primary School
Science
Marlborough’s comprehensive Science curriculum provides the foundations for understanding the world through
the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics and teaches the essential aspects of the knowledge,
methods, processes and uses of science.
We aim to nurture scientifically inquisitive minds and to develop children’s critical-thinking skills. We want to
stimulate high aspirations for our children by making links in the units we teach with key individuals who have
made a successful career from their pursuit of scientific knowledge and discovery. In doing so, our curriculum
encourages children to be explorers, to question and be curious about the world around them and to provide them
with the skills and knowledge they need to become scientists themselves. By the end of KS2, we aim to provide
children with the scientific knowledge and skills necessary so that they are well equipped and ready for secondary
school. Throughout the delivery of our science curriculum, we aim to nurture children’s wellbeing and mental
health through gardening and outdoor learning.
